A Day at Navy Recruiting Command

Corbin's work hosted a "Family Day" at work last week. It was loads of fun for everyone, the group in charge did an excellent job making it fun, while teaching the kids about what goes at on at NRC- Navy Recruiting Command!

There was a "treasure hunt", which took the kids to the different departments, where staff explained what their jobs are, and some of the offices had "treasures" to give, cool posters and dog tags and such. Also, each child got "goodies" as they sat down in the conference room to begin the day, and watch some really cool Navy recruiting videos.

Below are the two in charge at NRC- Admiral Faller is the gentleman that is the top guy in charge, and Admiral Graff is second in command. They spoke briefly to the group about the day, and the Navy. Both of them are very friendly and enthusiastic about the Navy.
One of the stops was to Admiral Faller's office, and one of our "tasks" was to get a picture with him. This was a real treat, and his wife was there, she is a really sweet person. It was neat for the kids and families to be able to see the Admiral, all of the NRC is so friendly and a very welcoming work place.
We went around the building with a small group, and there were lots of other small groups going around and learning.
Below is a pilot, who shared all of his flight gear and it was really interesting to hear about what he did in the air, BESIDES fly the plane!! (taking notes, and all of the communication going on while in flight!)
Yes, Corbin did his share of signing off on our "tasks" and teaching others about "N3"- where he works, selecting officers for the Navy Medical Service Corps.

Oh, this was a fun stop, this guy who talked to us works under water doing just about anything the Navy needs done, his specialty was explosives- disabling them under water and on the ground. I asked tons of questions, while the kids tried on scuba gear.

At the end, each child was given a certificate, presented by Admiral Faller.
Just for fun, here is the giant sunflower growing by my front porch, it has lots of buds- I can't wait for them all to open....God is just SO creative!!
The other day, Thomas told me he was going to go read, here is where I found him:)
And, last, but certainly NOT least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Samson, who turned 4 years old today!

This event was geared to elementary school/middle school ages- although once we got started, I wished Anmer was there. I didn't know it was going to be such a well planned and exciting morning!
