Day 4 - Pagosa Springs

Today started with Tim making us some yummy pancakes.

We then drove 60 miles east to Pagosa Springs. There is a resort there with 23 mineral hot spring pools ranging in temperature from the 95-114 degrees. There are 14 minerals in the water, and sulfur is one of them. (So is arsenic!) The water really smelled bad -we were thinking that we might not be able to stay. Mallory was not sure she could deal with it. She was not posing for the picture - she was really holding her nose.

We decided to stay, and we were glad that we did. The pools are right by the San Juan River that runs through town. It was fun to see the rafters go by.
They say that the minerals in the pools are therapeutic and healing. I am not sure about that, but they sure were hot!

The water in the river was 44 degrees. We told the kids that we would give them $5 if they would get in past their shoulders. They did it! Then, we said that we would make it $20 if they went all the way under. They actually did it! I stood on the step for 2 seconds and my feet went numb. I really can't believe that they went in twice.

Tim and Mason took a little nap.

We played mini golf at the KOA in the evening while we were doing some laundry. We really had fun playing. This KOA is quite impressive.

Tomorrow is the train ride from Durango to Silverton.

I am commenting on this post at 2am as I lay here trying not to vomit! I feel so sick! Anyway, this looks like a fun day! I do have to comment though Kelly, about the fact that I only saw 2 bath towels hanging on the bathroom door of the camper..... Give those kids their own towel!!
