A Blessed Day of Serving

We had a great day today teaming up with a family from our Bible Class to go out and serve in the name of Jesus. We decided to go shopping together to buy items to make food to serve to some homeless people.
We worked together to make King Ranch Chicken, green beans, and rolls.
Tim and Mason worked on the bags with the forks, cookies, and the Scripture - "This is how we know what love is, that Jesus Christ laid down his life for us."

We made 12 sets to give out.

We headed to an area of town where we know that many homeless people tend to hang out. We got to spend a little time with the first five people we gave food to since we found them individually - Ted, Herman, Harvey, Larry, and Chris. Larry and Chris were married and were so cute. Chris had gone into Wendy's to use the restroom, so we talked to Larry by himself first. He was so excited about the Valentine candy. He quickly hid it in his coat to surprise his wife later. We prayed with him, and he was very appreciative and thankful. The other guys had varying degrees of mental functioning, but were kind and thankful. The last of the food we handed out to a group. We did not have enough for them all, but we hoped that they would share. The food stayed hot in the cooler until we served the last of it.

God richly blessed our day. We set out to bless others, but (as usually is the case) we ended up being the ones who were blessed. We are so thankful for the material things that God has given us, and we pray that we can get much better at sharing them with others.
