The Nimitz Jr. High Admirals Tennis Team played in the Midland Invitational this weekend. Jake had to be on the bus by 6:45 (Lane took him :)) I went for the first round at 8 a.m. Jake said, "Mom, they are starting with 8
th-grade singles, and I have a bye the first round when they get to 7
th grade." So, we predicted about a 2 or 3 hour wait, at least, and I went home. As soon as I set up my laptop to work on a story (literally 30-minutes later), he
texted me: "I'm up!" So back we went. When we started the tournament, we were in jackets and blankets (40 degrees with a chilly wind). When we ended, it was nine hours later and 97 degrees! Only in West Texas!

Jake and Zach were in a playgroup together when they were toddlers! I've really enjoyed reuniting with Yolanda, his mom, and visiting while we watch the boys play. Jake plays singles, and Zach plays doubles with another boy.

The boy in the middle with the hat cracks us up! At another tournament Jake was in the middle of a serve and Andrew yelled, "Hey Jake! What's the score?" After Jake finished the point, Jake yelled, just as loud, "Andrew, you did not just do that! You did not just yell at me in the middle of a game!" Normally, it's pretty quiet around the courts!

That's a funny story...if someone yelled at me like that I would for sure miss the ball!
