Monday afternoon the roads had been plowed, so we ventured down the mountain in the Ritter's four-wheel drive to rent the boys' skis...but we did not back the car down the driveway for fear we could not get back up! Here is Luke unloading!
Tuesday morning was beautiful, so we headed to the slopes!
On the left of this picture, that's Lane and Luke on the lift!
I took this so you can see NO LINES! This is the Chili Express, which takes you to the top of the mountain. (Kel and Jo have been on this before!)
We always take a photo of all eight of our skis on the lift! Jake barely got his right ski in there!
We skied the next morning and then left for home to beat out another storm - arrived home at 1 a.m. Thursday! Just before we left the slopes Jake wiped out and felt quite a bit of pain in his left thumb. This morning the hand was so swollen that I took him to the doctor. It's not broken...the PA said it is a common ski injury called "skier's thumb," when you fall and four fingers go one way, and your thumb is pulled into the direction taken by your ski pole - in Jake's case, the opposite direction! Since the hand was so swollen, they wanted to do an X-ray. He's in a brace for a week and steroids to reduce swelling...but all's well that ends well, and Jake has another story to tell. We felt so blessed to spend this time together. This was "Luke's Vacation," in honor of his senior year, so he picked all the runs we skied, games we played, etc.! We are very thankful.
