Each day we would check our program to see what fun things we wanted to do that day. Monday was a day at sea so we enjoyed the onboard activities.
Julie and Kelly tried out the line dancing class.
The Anderson and Smith guys spent MANY hours during the week playing ping pong. They entered the tournament on Monday.
Congratulations to Mason who won 1st place!
The heated pools were a hit for the little ones.
They also took advantage of some of the organized kids activities.
Monday night was one of the formal nights for dinner.
It was a fun surprise to get back to our rooms and see that our cabin steward had made animals out of the towels.
Tuesday was our first stop - the city of Ketchikan, Alaska. Half of our group walked around the city and explored.
Watching the planes take off and land on the water was such a blast. This is a way of life up there, but we never get to see it down here.
The other half of the group had a zip line excursion.
This interesting vehicle took us to the top of the mountain to start our tour.
As we put on our gear the guides had an hysterical way of giving the guys some comfort information. I won't say it here, but ask one of us if you want to hear it.
Here goes Julie! She was a bit weak kneed after the first line, but was great after that.
Please note the tiny platforms that are much higher than they look in this picture. (The ground is WAY below the edge of the picture.) Unlike Julie who recovered from her fear, Kelly was terrified of the platforms. She was great with the lines, but standing on the platform with nine other people about did her in. She literally hugged the trees each time. The guide called her a "tree-hugger." If you know her well, that is the last thing she wants to be called!
Our guide thought it was funny to jump up and down and shake the suspension bridges. Those under 40 in our group enjoyed it also.
The view from the tree tops was amazing!
The cousin table at dinner that night.
A view from the back of the ship.
On Tuesday night we sailed through an area called Snow Pass. Wildlife is commonly seen in this pass and the cruise staff pointed it out to us from the public address system. See the sea lion?
We were able to spot several humpback whales.
More beautiful views from our balcony....
Stay tuned for part 3....coming soon!
